Brief
Drahim is a 100% Saudi financial technology company (FinTech) established in the city of Riyadh in August 2021. It offers a personal budget app that connects to your bank account directly and securely to analyze all your daily transactions from point of sales, money transfers and receivables. Then provides you with a simple, complete personal report about your average spending, upcoming bills, and your favorite transactions. Through this report, Drahim’s AI engine will suggest to you a tailored, low-risk, auto-investing plan in stocks.
My Role
As a Senior UX Designer, I was responsible for:
Collaborating closely with UX designers, business teams, mobile teams.
Led the UX efforts for key features, including the Zakat feature, external portfolios, and enhancing the investment journey.
Worked cross-functionally with marketing, graphic design, and development teams.
Process
1. Research and Discovery
Collaborated with the business team and external experts to deeply understand Zakat regulations.
Conducted user interviews to understand the needs of users regarding the investment journey.
Analyzed feedback and user behavior to prioritize necessary improvements and features.
Held weekly cycles to collect user insights from various channels, identifying common issues and gathering new feature requests.
2. Ideation and Wireframing
Brainstormed and sketched wireframes for new features like the Zakat and external portfolios.
Developed user journey maps to ensure smooth transitions in the investment experience.
Collaborated with the UX team to create simple, intuitive flows for users.
3. Design and Prototyping
Designed high-fidelity prototypes for the app’s features, ensuring they adhered to best UX/UI practices.
Worked closely with the mobile team to ensure proper component implementation and that animations met design standards.
Created visual assets for social media posts, in-app marketing campaigns, and booth design for Leap.
Designed and implemented new themes and interactive game elements for the Saudi National Day campaign.
4. Implementation and Refinement
Collaborated with the mobile development team to ensure the correct implementation of components, addressing bugs and UI inconsistencies.
Iterated designs based on user feedback, testing, and development constraints.
Refined the Zakat feature to be intuitive and compliant with sharia regulations while making it accessible to a diverse user base.
Challenges and Solutions
Zakat Understanding: Initially, I had limited knowledge of Zakat regulations. I solved this by collaborating with external experts and conducting thorough research into sharia laws.
User Needs: Understanding the users’ perspectives on the investment journey and Zakat feature was critical. I addressed this by conducting interviews, analyzing feedback, and continually iterating on the design.
Outcome and Impact
Successfully launched the Zakat feature, simplifying a complex process for users while maintaining compliance with sharia laws.
Enhanced the overall user investment journey, increasing user satisfaction and engagement with the app.
Contributed to the success of the Saudi National Day campaign, driving user engagement through interactive in-app elements and a new visual theme.
